After almost one and a half decade, Mylène Farmer remains today as one of the most popular female singers on the French music scene. Though hugely adored by her fans, Mylène Farmer remains as mysterious and controversal a figure as ever, shunning interviews and media appearances.

It was a chance encounter that I saw her on MTV during my study overseas in Australia. The video that I saw was "Je t'aime Melancholie" where she dressed up as a boxer dancing along with her dancers and engaging in a boxing fight with a male boxer. It was a bit like Madonna's Vogue video but I would say 10 times better.
Since that eventful night, I have been following her music eversince as well as discovering her earlier releases.

I can say it was Mylene Farmer that regenerate my interests in French music (as that time I was really into German singers like Sandra and Inga Humpe) and it was through her that I came to discover other wonderful singers like Jeanne Mas, Robert, Linda William and Alizee.

Speaking of Alizee, Mylene Farmer and the producer of all her albums, Laurent Boutonnat, co-wrote all the songs on her debut album.
It came as a big surprise for me as it is rather rare for Laurent to work with another singer other than Mylene.
